Parts of the Arabic sentence in light of prophetic rhetoric
Abstract:
This research aims to study the imperative
sentence and its components in the speech of the most eloquent of the Arabs,
and to determine the extent of eloquent linguistic expression in prophetic
rhetoric. The research adopted a descriptive-analytical approach and was
divided into three sections: the first addresses the status of the Prophetic
Hadith among scholars, the second addresses the imperative sentence, and the
third addresses the non-imperative sentence. The research reached several
conclusions, including: that prophetic rhetoric is prominent in the imperative
sentence, and that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed his
listeners with a direct command when he asked Muslims to inquire about matters
of religion and worship. Furthermore, divine guidance is evident in his
beautiful style and impactful discourse, as many scholars and commentators have
observed. Recommendations include: focusing on the grammatical and rhetorical
structures and linguistic themes in his speech; the necessity of studying the
Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim using modern linguistics; and compiling
outstanding research in this area and adopting it as a course material for the
Arabic Language and Islamic Studies departments.
