Modernity in architecture and the concept of housing that is unconventional for cultural heritage
This
research addresses the topic of modernity in architecture and the concept of
housing that transcends cultural heritage. It argues that our homes need to be
re-examined by architects and engineers, as they are almost always copies of a
single, unchanged model. The research aims to stimulate the analysis and study
of Libyan cultural heritage, showcasing it in the form of innovative and
contemporary architectural compositions and interior designs that blend local
character with modern functionality. The research concludes with several
findings, including: that urban and architectural modernity must be rooted in
the place and its local culture; and that there are fundamental differences
among those interested in and theorizing about architecture in their understanding
of the aesthetic aspects of contemporary architecture. The research also offers
several recommendations, the most important of which is: the necessity of
preparing and working to develop our urban landscape on creative and aesthetic
foundations. It also calls for building new cities with creative features and
characteristics, rooted in both the natural and social environments. Raising
this issue, which touches upon all aspects of our cultural life, provides an
opportunity to highlight a field of knowledge of paramount importance.
