A study of the social and cultural factors influencing girls' participation in combat sports in the 16-24 age group.
The research aims to identify the social and cultural factors
influencing girls' participation in combat sports and to identify the
challenges facing girls in combat sports. A descriptive survey approach was
used (field study). The research sample included 215 girls aged 16 to 24 years
from the Jfara Plain region. The research reached the following results: The
support of family and friends is one of the most important positive factors
that encourage girls to participate in combat sports. However, society faces
challenges in encouraging women, leading to discrimination against them.
Cultural values and negative stereotypes pose obstacles to girls'
participation. Girls' participation in combat sports is associated with positive
psychological effects, such as enhanced self-confidence and a sense of
happiness. The most important recommendations include: establishing gyms
dedicated to girls and providing specialized female trainers, in addition to
reducing subscription fees and providing equipment at reasonable prices,
increasing media coverage of women's combat sports, incorporating combat sports
into school curricula, and organizing inter-school competitions to encourage
girls' participation. Developing policies that support girls' participation in
combat sports.
