Doctrinal and religious poetry in the book One Thousand Nights and Night

Abstract:

This research aims to examine the didactic and religious poems scattered throughout the book One Thousand and One Nights, highlighting the spiritual and moral values ​​such as asceticism, reliance on God, and remembrance of death that the poets sought to convey. The researcher adopted a descriptive approach, supplementing it with the mechanisms of other methodologies as needed. The researcher arrived at a set of recommendations, including: the necessity of rereading One Thousand and One Nights carefully and classifying it, extracting the religious stories and accounts of Islamic conquests, and compiling the religious and didactic poetry into separate books. The researcher also emphasized that One Thousand and One Nights is not a book of entertainment and amusement, but rather contains hundreds of religious and Islamic stories and hundreds of verses of poetry offering guidance and instruction, which we are in dire need of.
