Bashir Al-Saadawi and his national character
The research topic addressed Al-Saadawi's personality from several
aspects, including his social, cultural, and political activities. The most
important issues Bashir Al-Saadawi addressed through studying his ideas during
that period were the issue of Arabism and Islam, and the issue of colonial
ambitions in Arab countries. These ideas contributed to the crystallization of
his personality and gave it new dimensions in thought and culture. The research
relied on the descriptive and analytical approach in studying Bashir
Al-Saadawi's personality from several aspects. The research reached a set of
results, the most important of which are: The impact of the political awareness
and cultural activity that Bashir Al-Saadawi received during his academic
studies and his job responsibilities contributed significantly to the growth of
his national sentiment and the definition of his nationalist orientations.
Al-Saadawi's activity reached its peak in eliminating sedition and thwarting
the opportunity of the Italian occupier, which followed a policy of divide and
rule. He was able to unify the armed resistance movement between the regions of
Barqa and Tripoli, which ended with the signing of the Sirte Agreement in 1922.
Bashir Al-Saadawi adhered to the unity of the homeland and the freedom of the
Libyan people during the discussion of the Libyan issue at the United Nations
and confronted all schemes that sought to impose and guardianship of the homeland.
